Professor David Levinson
Prof. David Levinson joined the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney in 2017 as Foundation Professor in Transport Engineering. He was a Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering at the University of Minnesota, from 1999 to 2016. He conducts research on Accessibility, Transport Economics, Transport Network Evolution, and Transport and Land Use Interaction. He is the Founding Editor of Transport Findings and the Journal of Transport and Land Use. He is the author of several books including: The Transportation Experience, Planning for Place and Plexus, Elements of Access, and The End of Traffic and the Future of Access. Hon Julie Anne Genter
Julie Anne is currently a member of the House of Representatives representing the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand. She is currently the Minister for Women, Associate Minister for Health and Associate Minister for Transport. She has a strong transport background in New Zealand having worked as a transport and planning consultant for some of New Zealand's leading firms (Sinclair Knight Merz; McCormick Rankin Cagney)
She holds dual citizenship of New Zealand and the United States. She holds a BA in philosophy (University of California, Berkeley in May 2003), a post-graduate certificate in International Political Studies (Institut d'études politiques in Paris in 2005), and a Masters of Planning Practice (University of Auckland in 2008). |
Richard Cross

Richard is the manager of the Ministry’s Strategic Policy and Innovation Team, which is responsible for developing high-level strategy and providing advice on cross-cutting transport issues, as well as developing policies related to new and emerging technologies. Richard has had held various roles in the Ministry working primarily in the aviation sector and on strategic policy issues.
Bryn Gandy

Bryn Gandy is responsible for advising on the government’s overall investment in the transport system including through the National Land Transport Fund, policy on freight and heavy rail, urban development and environment, land transport revenue and funding, demand management, and transport innovation and technology.
Bryn is an experienced public service leader having worked in the defence, health, internal affairs, justice, and social and children’s sectors.
Bryn joined the Ministry of Transport from the Ministry of Defence where he was Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy, Governance and People. He led that Ministry’s transformation to improve its delivery of long-range strategy and policy advice, and to enable its delivery of a $20 billion capital programme. In prior roles, Bryn has led agency and sector policy and strategy initiatives, including an IPANZ Supreme Award winner for business transformation.
Bryn is committed to developing State sector people and leadership.
He was a public service Leadership Fellow in 2009 and has co-led the design and delivery of award-winning leadership programmes.

Gareth Fairweather

As a Principal Adviser in the Ministry's Urban Development and Environment team, Gareth works to raise the profile and significance of transport in the government's work on urban development, spatial planning, resource management, with a focus on supporting the Government's Urban Growth Agenda.
David Shepherd

David has worked with KiwiRail for 18 years in a variety of roles within Interislander, Scenic Trains and Commuter Rail. As the General Manager Metro for TranzMetro he led a team to achieve 93% customer satisfaction and 95% on time performance. Maximising the 'Value of Rail' will necessitate increased provision of regional rail services and David is charged with delivering the Hamilton to Auckland Commuter Rail in mid-2020.
Professor Alistair Woodward

Alistair Woodward is a public health doctor and epidemiologist. A Professor at the University of Auckland, he is working on environmental health issues including injury, air quality and climate. He is part of a transport and health group presently investigating the effects of street renovations, the future of the bicycle, and e-mobility strategies that optimise health and environment benefits.
