Abstract Submission Guidelines

Presentation Formats
This year we are considering the following formats:
  • Paper - 20 minutes (including Q&A time)
  • Poster - no larger than A1 in size (landscape or portrait).

Submitting your Abstract
Don't worry if you do not have the final version of your submission immediately. You will have the ability to login and amend your details right up until the deadline for abstract submission closes.

All submissions should be prepared with the following in mind:
  • How well your topic relates to delivering a transport system that improves wellbeing of people and the liveability of New Zealand’s towns, cities and regions.
  • Connects with one or more of the five core outcomes of the Transport Outcomes Framework:
    • Inclusive access
    • Economic prosperity
    • Healthy and safe people
    • Environmental sustainability
    • Resilience and security
  • Demonstrates implications for government transport policy
All submissions must be non-commercial. At no time is it permissible for presenters to use their time slot to advertise or promote a product, service, or company.

Do not include information in your abstract that will not be included in your presentation.
Posters
A poster or posters that depict an area of interest related to the conference theme and sub themes may be submitted. This will be an A1 sized poster that will be displayed at the conference. You will have an opportunity to speak to the poster for a short time.
Poster submissions are required to submit an abstract through the online E-Abstract system and indicate that this will be a poster rather than a paper presentation.

Prizes
There will be prizes for best parallel session presentation and best poster, as determined by conference delegates.

Evaluation of Proposals
All abstracts will be reviewed by the organising committee. Relevance to the themes of the conference, originality and applicability to the conference audience are key considerations in the acceptance of all submissions. The organising committee reserves the right to decline any submission without assigning reasons. All submitters will receive an email confirming the outcome of their submission no later than Friday 25 October 2019.

Timeline for the submission process:
  • The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 20 September 2019 at 5:00pm.
  • Presenters will be informed whether their proposal has been accepted from the week beginning Monday, 30th September 2019 and no later than Friday 25 October 2019.
  • All presenters will need to have registered for Transport Knowledge Conference no later than Friday 25th October, 2019 in order to guarantee a place in the conference programme.
  • Successful presenters must prepare a powerpoint presentation for the conference which is to be submitted in advance of the conference to the organising committee.
